The most common types of whitworth thread are:

BSPP (G) – British Standard Pipe Parallel

BSPT (R/Rp) – British Standard Tapered Pipe, for pipes and tapered thread.
An appropriate sealing compound can be used in the thread to ensure a leak-proof joint.
