Indramat KDA 3.2-100-3-A00-W1 - N * NCMD (spindle won't turn on)
Anyone got any idea what might cause N * NCMD on this controller.....

Check cables from spindle, encoder and all fuses...
That message means that the rotation speed of the spindle is different from S command more than A04 parameter...
In other words - if A04=20 and you command S1000 the message won't show if spindle rotates between 980-1020 rpm... When it does the controler puts signal "n=ncmd" meaning that the spindle riched set speed...
By the way - that is not an error (as you see "ready lamp" and no "fault lamp"). That's a message that spindle is not ready yet to mill... But when that shows on screen - spindle should be rotating

Re: Indramat KDA 3.2-100-3-A00-W1 - N * NCMD (spindle won't turn on)
Ok, yea though maybe it should be spinning, so guess I have a bit of work to do around the cables/wiring. Btw, I found a old parameter list for this cnc and to me it seem like this A04 should be set to 50 - if this deviates from that might that causing this error, or should the spindle rotate even when this * NCMD comes up ? , I though it should say "N = CMD" when everything is ok ?.Petroholic pisze: ↑10 lis 2019, 21:08Check cables from spindle, encoder and all fuses...

EDIT: Reading your answer again to me it seem like it will show this message f.ex as long as the spindle is "reving" up tp set speed ?, and then change to N = CMD ?

Exactly. When reving (speed up) or slowing down to lower rpm...Maws pisze:it will show this message f.ex as long as the spindle is "reving" up tp set speed ?, and then change to N = CMD ?

Alright, have a bit of investigation to do then I guess , thnx againPetroholic pisze: ↑10 lis 2019, 22:16Exactly. When reving (speed up) or slowing down to lower rpm...Maws pisze:it will show this message f.ex as long as the spindle is "reving" up tp set speed ?, and then change to N = CMD ?

Re: Indramat KDA 3.2-100-3-A00-W1 - N * NCMD (spindle won't turn on)
Hmm, to me it seem like everything is "fine", but the spindle drive won't output any voltage to the motor.
I noticed the thermistor connector T2 connector is "shorted" to Ground connector (internally on the spindle drive, as it shorts when the cables are disconnected - is this normal behaviour?).
Other than that it looks like it get commands etc, and it reads statuses like "no power", "no RF" etc when disconnecting cables etc....

Re: Indramat KDA 3.2-100-3-A00-W1 - N * NCMD (spindle won't turn on)
Can such a behaviour be caused by a failed rotation encoder ? (if it for some reason don't get any feedback from the speed encoder?) - or should that give a separate error on Heidenhain ?.
A bit reluctant to take out the spindle drive if that's not the cause of the problem (a bit weired it stay "green" and "ready" if it is failing ?).

Re: Indramat KDA 3.2-100-3-A00-W1 - N * NCMD (spindle won't turn on)
Got somewhat further with this, after I changed the spindel drive and powersupply it still gave me the same N*NCMD "error", after doing some more troubleshooting I sent the command "M3" (spindel on), and moved over to the spindle and tried to turn it manualy - it then started to spin, and I seem to be able to control speed/change speed etc.
Any tips on what might cause such behaviours ? (I don't think it's related to change of spindel drive etc at all)....I would most likely get the same result with the original drive.

Re: Indramat KDA 3.2-100-3-A00-W1 - N * NCMD (spindle won't turn on)
Found the issue with the "new" spindel drive, one of the outputs are "fried", and the old one won't spin up even with help, but looks fine inside - compared to the "new" one that actually somewhat works.....

Re: Indramat KDA 3.2-100-3-A00-W1 - N * NCMD (spindle won't turn on)
For records I thought I'd post back here as I seem to have successfully repaired my original spindle drive (hoping to repair my backup as well), the things that turned out to be wrong (even though I haven't put the machine thru full rpm etc yet, but the spindle is working now) was propably caused by bad capacitors on the power-output board, which in turn had taken down some mosfet transistors in the "powersupply" area of the board, basically making the board totally dead.
I replaced all the capacitors on the board, and replaced 2x mosfet transistors, after this the spindle spinned up like it should.
