For more than 140 years, Raster-Zeulen-
roda has been an international leader in
terms of high-capacity forming techno-
logy. Quality machines from Zeulenroda
have proven their value repeatedly and
are setting standards in productivity and
reliability. Today, almost
60.000
Raster
Zeulenroda
machines
are
in service
worldwide.
In
1868
, the foundations for the con-
struction of sheet metal forming machines
in Zeulenroda were laid in Carl Traugott
Kneusels lamp factory.
In
1883
, Paul Blell set up a factory for
lathes, also in Zeulenroda. His produc-
tion programme expanded increasingly
and soon included boring mills, milling
machines, planing machines and other
machine tools.
In
1919
, the Adolf Lang factory was
added to the engineering industry at
this location. In this constellation, it was
soon possible to satisfy the demands of
the emerging industrial age.
In
1955
, the three large mechanical
engineering companies were fused and
became the VEB Werkzeugmaschinen-
fabrik Zeulenroda, in short WEMA.
Until
1989
, the VEB WEMA Zeulen-
roda was one of the most important
engineering companies in the former
GDR which sold moulding presses and
forming machines worldwide under the
brand name WMW.
In
1990
, the traditional enterprise was
privatised and the Werkzeugmaschinen
GmbH Zeulenroda was founded.
With the adoption of the product
range of RASTER, AGEO
H
and WALTER-
Pressen, the Raster-Zeulenroda Werkzeug-
maschinen GmbH was founded in
1994
.
Since the change of ownership in
2008
,
the company is managed by family
Doermann from Karlsruhe.
